Frontier wins two GCR Awards in Washington D.C.

Frontier is thrilled to have won two GCR Awards this week, for our work on two high-profile competition matters: the Vodafone / Three merger, and the Merricks v Mastercard case.

The GCR Awards recognise the leading competition lawyers, economists and enforcers, along with the key cases from 2024. Winners were announced at a ceremony on 1 April in Washington D.C.

Our work for Vodafone/Three won the award for Merger control matter of the year – Europe for creative, strategic and innovative work by teams of in-house and external lawyers and economists.  The UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) investigated the transaction, and, accepting pro-competitive efficiencies tied to network investment, cleared it subject to non-structural remedies in a landmark decision in late 2024. Frontier advised Vodafone throughout the investigation process.

Our work for Merricks v Mastercard won the award for Litigation of the year - Non-cartel defence for creative, strategic and innovative litigation on behalf of a defendant. Frontier advised Mastercard, the defendant, regarding a class action claim for damages in relation to credit card interchange fees in the UK. The case was settled in late 2024.
